BSc-level 9-day introduction to structured electronic design. This course discusses the theory and the application of basic structured design techniques to the design of application-specific amplifiers with operational amplifiers, such as:

  1. General-purpose low-noise, wide-band pre-amplifiers
  2. Photo diode amplifiers
  3. PSD amplifiers
  4. High-performance audio pre-amplifiers
  5. Active antennas
  6. Low-noise buffers and level shifts
  7. Sensor signal conditioning amplifiers
  8. Charge amplifiers
  9. ADC pre-amplifiers
  10. DAC output amplifiers
  11. etc.

Intended for

Designers with at least BSc in physics or electrical engineering:

  1. Interested in structured design of analog electronics
  2. Interested in the design of application-specific amplifiers
  3. Designing signal-conditioning electronics in embedded systems
  4. Designing analog integrated circuits

Educational method

At the beginning of the course, the application specification of an amplifier to be designed will be presented.

Step-by-step design of this amplifier will be discussed during the course.

Motivation of the design steps, their underlying theory and application to other designs will be elucidated.

Examples and exercises will help the participants to understand the design steps and their interaction.

At the end of the course, participants will receive an individual design assignment and present the results and the way in which they have been obtained.
